SWISS VINTAGE UNIVERSAL GENEVE, 18K SOLID ROSE GOLD, 1940'S, TIME TESTED.

Description: PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING TEXT AND CAREFULLY REVIEW ALL 12 PHOTOS. This is a listing for a beautiful SWISS UNIVERSAL GENEVE 18K SOLID ROSE GOLD WRISTWATCH WITH FACTORY SIGNED CASE. The serial number stamped on the case back is: 974496, indicates the watch was made in the 1942-1943 time period per my internet research. The watch movement is the Caliber 262, which is a well known and excellent manual wind movement (watch is wound up daily when in use, not an automatic). The Factory signed case is marked 18K and 0.750-see photo. Please note that the watch crown is a nongold replacement-see the photo. The watch strap buckle is a nongold replacement. The watch winds and sets as it should. I recently gave the watch a full 24 hour time test (dial up) and it is accurate to the minute. Since I wore the watch only once or twice a year on special occasions, the buyer may wish to have the watch serviced to maintain this level of performance if they wish to wear the watch more frequently. Why buy an untested watch? I purchased this fine timepiece from RICHARD E. GILBERT, OWNER OF ASHLAND INVESTMENTS, in 2005. Mr. Gilbert was a very well known and respected long time dealer in high quality vintage watches and a co-author of the best selling watch book titled: "COMPLETE PRICE GUIDE TO WATCHES". The watch dial appears to be a high quality refinished dial in near mint condition and the hands and watch crystal are also in near mint condition. The watch case is in excellent vintage condition-see photos. The watch measurements are all approximate: watch case width is 35mm (without the crown), case is 42mm lug to lug, 9.5mm thick and lug width is 19mm-note that a high quality HIRSCH 20mm leather strap has been slightly trimmed to fit and the strap shows only a little minor wear-see photos. The watch has always been carefully stored in my safe and shows it was very well cared for by it's previous owners. This fine luxury timepiece is ready to wear and to enjoy for many years to come and is well priced for it's fine condition and great eye appeal! I am now over 70 and have been selling my lifetime collection of collectibles on eBay-see my other listings.
