MAUSER ES350N .22LR CUSTOMIZED REAR SIGHT, Windage & Elevation adjustments, GWO.

Description: PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE LISTING TEXT AND CAREFULLY REVIEW ALL 9 PHOTOS. This is a listing for a very scarce and extremely difficult to find rear sight for the PRE-WAR MAUSER ES350N .22 LR TARGET RIFLE. This very rare sight was originally made for the ES 350N rifle with the grooved target barrel which allowed the rear sight to slide up and down for best positioning for the shooter to use. The ES350N was made before 1934. NOTICE: this rear sight has been modified by a prior owner who replaced the Factory sight slide with what appears to be a WW2 type military peep sight, maybe a M-1 Carbine or 1903A3 Springfield rear sight-I do not know. The new sight platform has been spot welded in 2 spots that I can see. I bought this sight to try to fit it to my Mauser ES350B rifle, but the sight grooves were not wide enough and I do not have the tools to widen them. I believe that the buyer could either use a file or have a machinist do a very light shave on the inner grooves and the sight would probably work on the ES350B rifle. The sight can certainly be used as it is (after the grooves have been widened) as it has both windage and elevation adjustments. I do not know what the values are for the adjustments-see the photos for reference numbers and windage line marks. The right knob moves the peep sight left and right and the peep sight is adjusted for elevation by sliding the peep up or down the sight ramp. All sight adjustments are in good working order as I have moved them to verify. The sight is all steel and very well made and is in good to very good vintage condition overall. The sight has a small knob to loosen or tighten the sight to the barrel grooves. The approximate measurements of the grooves are: front: 8.80mm in width (bottom sides), when tightened, approx. 8.33mm-see photos for the maximum in and out adjustments. The outside measurement of the sight accross the front is approx. 18mm. The rails are sharp and undamaged. The buyer is responsible for knowing if this sight can be modified to fit their rifle and should consult a gunsmith or machinist if in doubt as this part is NOT: A BUY, TRY AND RETURN PART!
