Shows on Broadway - in New York City, and who made it happen ? You guessed it - none other than the man himself ... Mr. Bill Graham ! This run of Concerts was important for many reasons, but arguably the two most important ones were as follows : First, this was in a way the true-tested showing of Garcia's " comeback " from his near-death diabetic coma frighteningly experienced after the Summer '86 Grateful Dead Tour. And Secondly, these Shows featured not only smoking-hot J.G.B. ' Electric ' Sets, but they also each featured an ' Acoustic ' set by the Jerry Garcia ' Acoustic ' Band ( J.G.A.B. ) !!! There was no finer-way to show your thanks to the Fans, and your sheer love and passion than " going-acoustic " for 18-straight Shows on Broadway in New York City ! Many ( most ! ) musicians wouldn't even think of taking a chance like this, but Jerry would - and thankfully for all of us ... he did ! As many musicians - and especially guitar players - very well know, it's extremely tough to ' hide-behind ' an acoustic guitar ( & especially with lead guitar ) when your fretboard-chops aren't at their very best & perfectly 100% ' on '. Even playing with a multi-piece band, everything is way audible live - and unlike playing electric guitar, you simply cannot hide. But what did Jerry care, because his playing was indeed completely ' On ', and to the delight of the Dead Fan Faithful ... he went out & proved it ! And, even more importantly ... he also proved & shown that he was ' Back ! ' -- and in a Big-Time way !! Another ... " Triumphant Return !!! " - and, arguably the Big-One. So, as it goes without saying - this Amazing ! Vintage-Original Shirt from this '87 Broadway run is clearly one of the most heralded collectibles in the Grateful Dead Fan World, and most-certainly for the Fans of the Jerry Garcia Band !
