Description: 19th-Century Fischer J. Budapest Hungary Ceramic Jug A 19th-century Fischer J. ceramic jug, Budapest, Hungary. Hand painted with red, yellow, green, blue and gilt polychrome enamel decoration. Sitting on a pedestal base with a scrolled handle. Marked to the underside with a blue stamp, "Patent", "Fischer J", "Budapest" and impressed mark 577.Condition: Very Good Antique condition. There is no chips or crazing or any other damage except for the hardly noticeable hairline (See last picture.) I don't know what it is. Whether it is just a hairline or a trace of professional repairs. In any case it is hardly noticeable with a naked eye. I had to manipulate the picture to make it visible. Maybe the jug is made out of 2 separate pieces joined together. Actually on inside it shows more clearly that two pieces were joined together. As I said before it is hardly noticeable on the outside. The water does not leak out of the jug.Dimensions8.0" W x 9.0" H x 6.5" DFischer J. Budapest was founded by Ignace Fischer in Pest, Hungary, in 1864. (Pest is the eastern half of modern Budapest which was united with the western half, Buda, in 1873). His pieces bear the mark “Fischer J.” with the “J” being the same letter as “I” in Hungarian. The Fischer factory was bought by Zsolnay Pottery in 1895.Rare, Highly Collectible!!!
