Description: The Consolidated Lamp and Glass company originally formed in Fostoria, Ohio but two years later the factory burned, hence the move to Coraopolis. For many years this company was known for producing lamps and lighting fixtures. The firm was also known to produce a line of glass called pigeon blood torquay, first introduced in 1898. It was marketed in numerous utilitarian shapes and sets to include bowl, water and table sets as well as individual items such as this oil cruet. The pattern consisted of a simple ribbed design in clear orange red hue. This oil cruet has a smooth clear applied handle and a faceted stopper. The cruet measures just over 7” tall including the stopper and approximately 3 1/4” across the broadest part of the body. The stopper itself measures 2 1/2” long. I can find no damage or repairs to either the stopper or oil crew it itself, I see no residue on the inside due to use. I will mention and as pictured a tiny ash inclusion can be viewed in the body of the piece, very common with early molded glass produced during the late 19th century. The oil cruet seems to be a harder to find item in this pattern as I seldom if ever see it for sale. A fantastic find, nonetheless. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future. Thank you.
