Circa 1870 British Gallery Glass “Archer & Sons, L’pool” 6.5” Diameter RARE

Description: A beautiful crossover collectible, this piece from the estate of Edward Herrmann is in excellent condition and quite a statement piece. Often referred to as a “gallery glass” due to use of large magnifying glasses in -you guessed it-art galleries! Besides being a collectors item as a magnifying glass, it is also an advertizing collectible; Archer & Sons was a renowned optics manufacturer that was in business from 1848 to approximately 1904. Mahogany frame with inlaid mother--of-pearl button. Condition: Overall excellent; the only flaw being a scratch on lens as shown. **From the estate of Edward Herrmann** Edward Kirk Herrmann (July 21, 1943 ? December 31, 2014) was an American actor, director, and writer. He was known for his portrayals of Franklin D. Roosevelt in both the miniseries Eleanor and Franklin (1976) and 1982 film musical Annie, Richard Gilmore in Amy Sherman-Palladino's comedy-drama series Gilmore Girls (2000?2007), and a ubiquitous narrator for historical programs on The History Channel and in such PBS productions as Nova. He was also known as a spokesman for Dodge automobiles in the 1990s. for additional information copy and paste into your browser--https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Herrmann
