Description: A pair of antique large German porcelain novelty owl lamps, made by Sitzendorf of Dresden in the late 1800s or 1910s. These are beautifully modelled porcelain owls with their original glass eyes. I think these owls were probably oil/kerosene lamp fonts originally and the leaf/lily pads and flowers atop their heads were added when they were electrified. The porcelain owls themselves are approximately 11.5 inches tall, and assembled the lamp is approximately 24.75 inches tall to the top of the chimney. Both lamp bases have some repairs to the porcelain parts above the owl's heads, and there is a hairline on one of the gold flowers, and both have some chips to the leafy vines around the bases. One lamp needs to be reattached where the gold flower meets the leaf, and both have some age-related wear. The white ruffled glass shades are just over 8 inches diameter and have some typical small chips to the bottom rim edges where the glass has sat on the metal. The wiring is old and really ought to be replaced. Please see the photos for details. Thank you for looking! pf Track Page Views With Auctiva's FREE Counter
