Description: Here's a very practical and useful 5 drawer tall chest of drawers from the late 19th century, 1880-1900. This is a custom made piece in softwood with square nail construction of the drawers and nice raised panel sides. It's very well made and as you can see by the back, it was meant to be placed against a wall (instead of being free standing in the middle of an area). I was told it came from a country store but I've seen this type of piece coming from country farm houses in this area. Certainly the cast iron "bin pulls" on the drawers feel like country store. The finish is an original dark stain under varnish. The dimensions are 54.5 inches (4 foot 6.5 inches) tall X 24 inches wide X 11.5 inches deep. I can see this in a bathroom, laundry room, bedroom or anywhere that such a narrow piece will fit. It's a very practical piece in great condition for its 125 + years of age.
