Description: Antique Large Massive 1881 printed and 1882 gifted Family Holy bible with over 2000 illustrations and metal latches. Includes “The Sailors Prayer “ 1881-1882 handwritten prayer on a piece of antique paper. The Bible was gifted by Emma Isaac in 1882 as a grandmother to her granddaughter Mrs. Emma Isaac Durrell in Cleveland Ohio as a marriage gift. Emma Isaac was born in England in 1813 and there she married William Isaac, shortly after his death she moved to Toronto( where she had relatives) with her only son William Isaac Jr. She worked as a governess for a French Lady of noble descent named Madam Giangus, after seven years she opened a hotel at Niagara Falls where she met and married Mr. Robert Sharp who also died 2 years later, Mrs. Sharp moved to Cleveland Ohio where she lived with family for 40 some years before she died in 1903 at 90 years old and her funeral was held at the house of her granddaughter Mrs. Durrell in Cleveland West Side Ohio. The Bible is in good condition except for the front cover that is removed from the binding but still hangs on fine because of the metallic latches. The Bible is very heavy over 12 pounds. The Bible comes with several newspaper clippings in regards to Emma Isaac Sharp and John and Emma Isaac Durrell plus their son Jack Durrell family.
