Description: We acquired this ancient roman oil lamp at an auction in the midwest. The wick hole or mouth is the smallest opening, found at the narrowed tip. The larger opening is the filling hole and is found in the middle of the discus. In their earliest and simplest state, Roman oil lamps were an open saucer with a floating wick. This example represents a bit more effort with shoulders over the oil reservoir. It's about 2.5" across and 3.4" long. Please note that we do not export or import ancient artifacts.
