Description: 1953 Vintage Wire Photo by UNITED PRESS. Artist's conception shows how some of the heaviest objects ever dropped at speeds up to 600 miles per hour have been recovered completely undamaged. A Ryan Q-2 pilot-less jet plane suspended from main parachute after small chute seen in background starts to slow the object down. After a given interval the large main chute opens and the small one drops away. The tests with parachutes were conducted by the United States Air Force and Ryan Aeronautical Company at the Holloman Air Development Center, Alamogordo, New Mexico. Photo is Dated: February 1, 1953.
