Description: Rare Silver Egyptian Coin 1923 AD or 1341 AH Crown Size 20 Piastres King Fuad the First Facing Right ANACS EF45 For your Egyptian Coin Collection-EGC456 Details Description: An extremely fine 1341 AH or 1923 AD Egyptian crown size twenty piastres rare silver coin. The obverse of the coin depicts the bust of King Fuad or Fouad the first (who ruled Egypt during the British occupation) facing right. He is wearing a Jacket and a neck tie as well as a fez. The obverse also has the words Fouad the first King of Egypt along the edge in front of the king's face. The reverse has the words "Al Mamlkah Al Mesryah" (Kingdom of Egypt) in the center in beautiful calligraphy surrounded by the denomination and the date in years AD (1923) and AH (1341). This is the variety without the mint mark and is relatively rare with low mintage of only 100,000. The coin is graded by ANACS as EF45 and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1923. Mint: The coin was most likely minted in the United Kingdom wit only 100,000 minted. Size and weight: This is a 20 piastres, which is approximately 40 mm in diameter and should weigh ~28 gm of 83.3% silver. The coin has a reeded edge. References: It is KM #338. Condition: The coin is graded by ANACS as EF (Extremely Fine) 45 and comes in a plastic holder so labeled. It is great looking with nice eye appeal. The details of the coin are all well preserved with wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. The coin is better than the photos suggest. The coin has scratches, minor bag marks, wear to the high points especially where the fez sits on the head, and wear to the king's cheek. Be that as it may, it is a very nice coin in great condition for the type and would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
